That Cinnamon Spice by D. Wilson
I adore cinnamon. From my earliest memories as a child, I would sprinkle this delightful spice on nearly everything I could think of. It was a joy to add a generous dusting of cinnamon on top of my warm toast, transforming a simple breakfast into a fragrant delight. Hot cereal, whether it was oatmeal or cream of wheat, became a comforting bowl of goodness with just a sprinkle of cinnamon, providing warmth and flavor that made each spoonful a treat. Desserts, too, were never complete without this aromatic spice; it elevated the sweetness of cakes and cookies to new heights. And, of course, how could I forget the heavenly taste of homemade apple pie? The combination of sweet, tart apples and the warm, spicy notes of cinnamon created a symphony of flavors that I still crave to this day. As I reflect on these memories, it becomes clear that "That Cinnamon Spice" not only brings joy to my taste buds but also offers some remarkable benefits to the body. Now, that's truly insightful!
1.) Are you looking to enhance your immune system? Who isn't? It's the powerhouse that keeps our bodies running smoothly and efficiently. In our fast-paced lives, maintaining a robust immune system is essential for overall health and well-being. Science has revealed that the spices found in cinnamon possess antiviral properties, making it a natural ally in the fight against illnesses. Its ability to combat pathogens is not just a fun fact; it’s a testament to the power of nature! Who would have guessed that such a delightful spice could also serve as a formidable defender of our health?
2.) Are you experiencing inflammation? And I'm not referring to the kind of emotional inflammation that arises from being upset with your husband or boss. Did you know that Cinnamon Spice can help combat physical inflammation? It turns out that cinnamon is loaded with over 40 antioxidants, which play a crucial role in protecting our bodies from oxidative stress. Science is uncovering that this remarkable spice not only naturally boosts the immune system but also tackles toxic inflammation in the body, potentially reducing the risk of chronic diseases. This dual action makes it an invaluable addition to our diets, providing both flavor and health benefits.
Alright, smarty. How knowledgeable are you about the wonders of cinnamon? Tell me, did you know that cinnamon also benefits the brain? Some intriguing research suggests that cinnamon might serve as a super protector for your brain cells, helping to maintain cognitive function as we age. It appears that cinnamon may even play a role in treating or preventing neurological conditions, which is a fascinating prospect for those concerned about brain health. And that's not all. The sweet, warm aroma of cinnamon seems to stimulate your brain, enhancing alertness and possibly improving memory. Wink, wink. It's as if this spice offers a delightful way to keep our minds sharp while indulging in its rich flavor.
When I was a young girl, I would put cinnamon on almost everything I ate, relishing its unique flavor and the warmth it added to my meals. Reflecting on those joyous days, I realize it's high time I start incorporating my favorite spice back into my daily life. There’s so much more to cinnamon than just its taste; it’s a treasure trove of health benefits waiting to be rediscovered.
Come tomorrow, my tea has a date with cinnamon, and I can hardly wait to savor that comforting blend once again. It's a simple yet profound way to reconnect with a cherished childhood memory while also nurturing my body and mind.
How To Make Your Body Smile by Didi Wilson
These days, it feels like there’s an overwhelming amount of ripping and running going on in our lives, as if we are all caught in a whirlwind of constant activity.
Busy schedules have transformed from being mere inconveniences into a way of life, an inescapable norm that dictates our daily routines.
Everywhere we turn, it seems that everything and everyone demands our undivided attention with an urgency that can be quite overwhelming, almost as if we are on a perpetual treadmill of responsibilities.
As we rush to keep the engines of our families, businesses, financial obligations, and social lives running smoothly, I can’t help but wonder how often we take a moment to pause and reflect on how to make our bodies truly smile. And, I’m not referring to one of those superficial, forced smiles that we often put on for the world to see. I mean, what can we do to genuinely foster a relationship with our bodies that encourages them to love us back more deeply, to feel appreciated and cared for?
Like so many aspects of life, the answer to this question can range from simple and straightforward to more intricate and nuanced, encompassing a broad spectrum of practices and habits.
For the sake of time and to ensure that my body keeps smiling, I will keep this exploration insightful and practical.
1.) Water: If you truly want to give your body an instant rush of energy and vitality, there’s nothing quite like ensuring that your body is adequately hydrated with water.
Water is essential for numerous bodily functions and benefits, including but not limited to: Energy Maintenance, Joint Lubrication, Tissue Protection, Skin Health, Digestion Support, and Nutrient Absorption. Just to name a few, these benefits highlight how crucial water is for sustaining life. It is not merely beneficial; it is absolutely vital for our survival. So, take a moment to smile at your body and ensure you provide it with the water it needs to thrive, flourish, and live vibrantly.
2.) Personal Hygiene: Reflecting on a certain period in my life, I recall the intense preparations for my first bodybuilding competition. One I didn't compete in. But,
that's a different topic for another day. Preparation for the Body Building Competition.
As our levels in life change, so too should our approach to self-care. Embracing new challenges and striving for new heights requires that we consistently check in with our bodies and their needs. When we pursue new goals yet neglect the fundamental requirements of our bodies, we risk suffering consequences that can be life-altering.
Personal Care: Serves as our first line of defense against infections, germs, and diseases. Maintaining personal care affects our physical health and significantly impacts our mood, overall appearance, and self-confidence. The importance of good hygiene cannot be overstated; it can save your life! And, a well-established hygiene routine may very well be the key to living a longer, healthier life.
My body is already smiling; I am just thinking about it.
Side note: Consider keeping an emergency Personal Hygiene bag readily available at all times. Your body is counting on it to stay healthy and happy.
3.) Vitamins: Nobody is immune to experiencing bad days or unexpected emergencies. In the past four years. I've more than had my share.
With this in mind, it’s essential to recognize that vitamins can play a pivotal role in our recovery and healing processes. Not only do vitamins bolster our immune systems, but they also contribute to strengthening our overall physical foundation, ensuring that we are well-equipped to handle whatever life throws our way.
4.) Vegetables: Now, I can already hear your thoughts—vegetables aren’t typically the first thing that comes to mind when you think about making your body smile.
However, it might be time to reconsider that notion. Vegetables function as a natural medicine for our bodies, acting as superheroes in our diets. They provide a plethora of health benefits, including reducing the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, and stroke. Incorporating a variety of vegetables into our meals is a powerful way to nurture our bodies and promote long-term health. Next up on the list is the practice of Meditation.
5.) Meditation Baby: You might diligently ensure your body receives the adequate amount of water it needs, along with all the necessary vitamins and vegetables, and maintain a rigorous hygiene routine. However, it is the holistic wellness of meditation that truly allows the body to find its neutral posture and achieve rejuvenation. Meditation offers a unique opportunity to connect with our inner selves, reduce stress, and cultivate a sense of peace and tranquility that is essential for our overall well-being.
6.) Want to make your body smile? And, I’m not talking about one of those disingenuous, fake smiles. If no one else... Your body knows the difference.
Let your body know that even amidst the chaos and constant demands of life, you are mindful of its needs and well-being. Acknowledge its efforts, listen to its signals, and take the time to nurture it with love and care. By doing so, you can foster a deeper connection with your body, allowing it to thrive and truly smile back at you in gratitude.
Speaking of gratitude, I completed this post two days before it was due. Yessssss....
Now, That’s Insightful by D. Wilson
Reading is one of my favorite activities, but I am selective about what I read. I am particularly attracted to books that are... Well... Insightful.
Insightful books hold great value because they offer something multi-faceted. There are many insightful books today that cover topics from Wellness to Science, but today I will highlight six insightful reads that top my list for their great insights.
1.) As A Man Thinketh by James Allen - This book by Allen is regarded as a self-help classic by readers worldwide. Allen proposes that life circumstances are directly influenced by a person’s thoughts. As A Man Thinketh is insightful in that it doesn't dictate but rather inspires the reader’s observations and inspirations.
2.) Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill - Can anyone achieve wealth? Napoleon Hill and readers who support this self-help blockbuster seem to believe so. This book emphasizes deliberate action as the key to success. Hill suggests that intentional actions with a focused mind are the way to grow rich. In my view, the book is not just about wealth but about cultivating rich thoughts.
3.) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - Are you seeking to understand your life’s purpose? The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho delves into dreams, self-exploration, and purpose. It follows a shepherd boy, Santiago, on a grand journey in search of true treasures. If you’re looking for purpose, dreams, and self-exploration, this book might guide you in that direction.
4.) The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown - Who says embracing imperfections can’t be beneficial? This book encourages readers to let go of perfectionism and challenges them to embrace the courage to be more compassionate and patient with themselves. There is beauty in imperfection, especially if you dare to see it where it’s not always obvious.
5.) Quiet: The Power of Introverts by Susan Cain - Introverted? I’m a mix of both introvert and extrovert, but my introverted side was pleased that the author wrote this book. Cain’s main point is that introverts offer something unique to the world. Introverts should not conform to the idea that the extrovert approach is the only or best way in our ever-changing world.
6.) I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou - Autobiographies have their place, but they can also take center stage in other areas. While not strictly a self-help book, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Angelou, with its stories of self-resilience and transformation, is a treasure for those who discover it. Treasures in unexpected places, beauty in imperfection, a unique and powerful way of being, a grand journey of self-exploration, and all the positive possibilities of one’s thoughts.
